Houston’s Midtown is known for the numerous restaurants and bars that draw great crowds to the neighborhood helping the community thrive. Midtown has an upbeat, lively atmosphere and a new bar has come onto the scene ready to add some variety to the mix.
The Iron Cress Hospitality Group owns and operates many bars in the midtown area and has made another addition to their list with the opening of Sage County. Co-owner Michael Paolucci shared with Houston CultureMap that he came up with the idea to open a classic dive bar to give the usual crowd something they haven’t seen before. After managing restaurants and other typical bars in Houston, Paolucci decided it was time to mix it up and open an old fashioned bar.
Sage County is designed to feel like an old bar you would find along the highway somewhere in a small town between Houston and Dallas. The fully-stocked bar features classic drinks to help define the concept, such as moonshine, malt liquor served in red solo cups, and shots of Jack Daniels. You can get in on the fun Wednesday-Sunday from 8pm to 2am as you remember what it was like to be college.
Midtown is an extremely competitive spot for new bars but the Iron Cress Group has high hopes for their old-time bar and with great reason! Visit Sage County and let us know what you think of the classic concept bar that is already gaining a solid following on Facebook!
