When you visit a new city, there are certain restaurants that you must stop in for a bite, or attempt to devour the entire menu. California’s got In-N-Out Burger, the Midwest has Steak ‘n Shake, nobody knows what happens on the East Coast anymore in regards to beef on bread: and Houston—and only Houston—has Becks Prime.
The delicious journey was started in 1984 by Mike Knapp formerly of Steak & Ale restaurants, John Storms and Win Campbell, who in 2010 became the chief executive officer. Their first location, which is still located on Kirby Drive, opened almost 30 years ago and they’ve had plenty of time to perfect a burger. If 11 locations indicate anything, it’s that they got it right on the money the first time!
Their burgers are heaped with accolades. Where the Locals Eat ranked Becks Prime one of the 10 best restaurants in the USA in the 2000’s, as well as awarding it the Best Hamburger in Greater Houston says the Houston Business Journal.
No doubt attributing to their critical acclaim, each burger is 100% Certified Angus Beef that’s ground on-site, their Boar’s Head ¼ lb hot dogs are unique to Becks Prime restaurants and all their chicken breasts are slow-marinated. None of their meats are ever frozen or put inside a microwave; all their menu items are made-to-order. These burgers practically review themselves.
I personally love their Hickory Burger with a side of bleu cheese… and a milkshake… and some French fries… Their chicken sandwiches are stellar as well. I’m feeling a craving coming on! If you are, too, stop by for me!
