Pistolero’s popped up on that Westheimer strip just as Montrose despaired nothing good would ever live there! It’s a tequila and taco bar that is Montrose-minded, reasonably priced, and has a cool atmosphere. This is one place in Houston that caters to its roots and the ever-rising popularity of soccer amongst Houston locals.
As far as tacos and tequila go, however, these tacos are gourmet, award-winning and sublime, their tequila cocktails are the (albeit self-proclaimed) best tequila cocktails in the city. But the real zinger is the seemingly endless litany of specials in addition to their delectable regional Mexican cuisine.
Enjoy $1.50 margaritas on Margarita Mondays (frozen or on the rocks—up to you!). Taco Tuesday brings you $2 tacos—and their tacos really are totally to die for. I’ve had their grilled Portobella tacos, their veggie taco, the blackened fish, the beer battered fish (so good, kill me) AND their grilled shrimp. Pistolero’s BBQ pork torta is also worth trying, even though it doesn’t fall under the $2 taco category. And I’d also like to recommend the Pistol-Elote Street Corn , it’s delectable—and a must-try for a discounted $5 at happy hour on Saturdays & Sundays from 12-8.
Weekend Happy Hour also features $4 Micheladas, $4 house-made Sangria, $3 margaritas, $1 off all draft beer, and other $5 appetizers like chips & queso or chips & guacamole, nachos and cheese quesadillas. Or try reverse happy hour 7 days a week with a truncated happy hour menu featuring $4 Sangria, $3 Margaritas, and $1 off all draft beer.
That’s not even all. “Nacho Typical Wednesday” has $5 nachos and has started in on the Wednesday Especial where if you take a picture with your $12 pitcher and post it to social media, the next pitcher is $10! Free on a Thursday night? Enjoy $5 chili burgers, $3 Cazadores (tequila), and $2 Tecate (beer). Come to think it’s actually pretty difficult to come on a night when they don’t have a special!
The other clear stand outs are their awesome infused cocktails like the Ginger Mora that just kicks your butt with its zing and sweetness. And the Pineapple Picante is spicy and mouthwatering with jalapeno infusions. One thing’s a clear shot: Pistolero’s ain’t a miss!
