One of the top ranked elementary schools in Houston ISD is Barbara Bush Elementary School. This public school is known for its students consistently achieving academic excellence, and its strongly supportive community.
It received the huge honor last year of being ranked the 8th Best Elementary School in the Houston area, which includes 40 counties, by the Children at Risk Foundation. It also came in at #29 out of 4059 elementary schools in the state of Texas.
There are a number of unique programs at the school to ensure that each student isn’t left behind, or not being challenged enough. The Special Needs Department is dedicated to teaching life skills, diversity, speech, and independence. Vanguard classes are also available for gifted and talent students at every grade level. There are about 35 different native languages spoken by students, so Bush meets the needs of students learning English as a second language with a certified teacher to assist them each step of the way.
Bush Elementary is truly a neighborhood school with strong parental involvement, averaging 850 volunteer hours each month. The school’s ability to work collectively with its parents is a truly a great example for its pupils!
If you are looking for a school that is committed to making sure your child is successful, and has a strong foundation in core subjects such as reading, writing, and arithmetic, Bush Elementary may be the choice for your family!
