Get Inspired at the Museum of Fine Arts this Summer!

Museum of Fine Arts
Houston’s Museum of Fine Arts has incredible, diverse art collections and exhibitions that continue to expand and change. While the majority of the pieces are housed in the Audrey Jones Beck and Caroline Wiess Law buildings, the campus also contains a sculpture garden, visitor’s center, library, movie theatre, gift shop, café, two art schools, and two house museums.

Currently, the sight to see or better yet experience, is Jesús Rafael Soto’s Houston Penetrable exhibition. Constructed with 24,000 plastic tubes that were individually painted and then hung from a ceiling 2 stories high down to the floor, you have an incredible opportunity to get up close and personal with a beautiful piece of contemporary art. It is truly an honor to host Soto’s final, most ambitious work in our city and we encourage you to embrace this once in a lifetime experience between now and September 1, 2014.

While typically there is an admission to the museum, there are also some exceptions to the rule. Courtesy of the oil company Shell, admission is free for everyone on Thursdays, while for children 12 years or younger their admission is free every day. Young adults 13 to 18 can also received free admission on Saturdays or Sundays with a library card from any Texas public library. The museum is closed on Mondays, but is open during various hours the rest of the week.
