Over the last decade, Houston has witnessed a number of changes and one thing that seems to stand out the most is the increasing size of our residential neighborhoods. Joining those neighborhoods that have been receiving a lot of positive attention in recent years is Afton Oaks.
This wonderful neighborhood is located in a booming area of the city near the intersection of US-59 and Loop 610 and was originally developed for Houston ranchers back in the 1950s. However, within the last decade it has exploded into one of the most desired places to live in all of Houston. Afton Oaks is conveniently close to Downtown Houston, Greenway Plaza, The Medical Center, Highland Village, and The Galleria.
Living in the neighborhood of Afton Oaks will provide many great opportunities like wonderful places to shop, eat, be entertainet, a quality education for your children and vast employment possibilities. The schools of HISD that serve the area include Lamar High School, St. George’s Place Elementary School and Lanier Middle School.
Some Houstonians compare Afton Oaks neighborhood to the high end neighborhood River Oaks, except that it costs a fraction of the price. Houston Realtor Kiki Wilson says Afton Oaks is, “a really good place to get a nice new house on a good-sized lot…and it’s very family oriented too.”
