Meyerland is a safe neighborhood in Houston with a fantastic sense of community that is perfect for raising a family. The neighborhood is located in southwest Houston just outside of Loop 610 near Beechnut, with easy access to other major freeways leading to the Galleria area, Greenway Plaza, and Reliant Stadium.
This 6,000-acre community was developed in the late 1950s and remains as attractive today as it did 60 years ago. Many residents have rebuilt their homes in recent years to keep the neighborhood modern and upbeat. The biggest feature of the area is Meyerland Plaza which is a recently renovated shopping center with numerous stores and restaurants.
The HISD schools of Meyerland include: Lovett, Herod, and Kolter Elementary Schools, Johnston and Pershing Middle Schools, and Bellaire High School. There are also a few private schools in the area but the two biggest include Episcopal High School and St. Thomas Episcopal School which is K-12.
With two city operated neighborhood parks, Meyerland has fun and safe recreation areas for their residents. The parks’ amenities include a playground, an outdoor pavilion, and a lit multi-purpose sports field.
