Chill out at Market Square Park

Chill out at Market Square Park

Market Square Park is one of Downtown Houston’s best kept secrets.  It’s just about 10 blocks away from the wildly popular Discovery Green, but it has a completely different personality.

Market Square Park started as Congress Square in 1836.  A few years later it was renamed to the Market Square. It had 3 City Hall buildings, all of which burned down.  The space finally became a parking lot and was mostly forgotten until 2010. At this time, the renovated park was reopened and became the greatest little park around!

The park has a Niko Niko’s Cafe and shaded seating under the pergola. It also has art, fountains, gardens, trees to climb, grass to run in and two fenced dog areas.  Right across the street is the “Houston is Inspired” mural by Gonzo247!

Take your kids to Market Square Park, grab lunch and let them run.  Sip on your drink as they enjoy playing in the Historic Downtown District.
