Big Brew Houston is a comprehensive, extensive, integrative 7-day festival celebrating unique craft brews from around the nation. As the 2nd largest beer festival in the United States, I’m not surprised that the October 20-26, 2014 itinerary listed on the Big Brew Houston website has listed great events for for anyone over the age of 21.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are each a great day to dip your toes in with some delicious dinner events, all different cuisine styles, paired with exemplary hand-picked beer selections. Be sure to check make reservations as their are no advance tickets for dining.
From Thursday onward, the George R. Brown Convention Center is the epicenter of the festival. The Great Match (also called Gourmands & Grains) is an event at $100 per person that features some of Houston’s best chefs paired with a variety of different craft beers. It starts at 6:00 pm and runs until 9. Friday is even busier, with the ‘Texas Brewed’ Texas breweries showcase at $50 per person where you can sample the best and most unique craft beers these breweries can deliver from 6-9 pm. Additionally, there’s a Houston Pub Crawl that night called ‘Suds in the City’ that hasn’t announced its departure time quite yet or its itinerary, but promises to take attendees to the best brews in the city, so look forward to that news coming up!
Saturday has two events, starting at 1 pm and running through to 10 pm at the George R. Brown. $45 per person per session, each session is three and a half hours long and has over 1,000 craft beers, interactive displays, live music and Brewmasters of the industry. You can buy VIP tickets to the first session at $100 a ticket for early access (12:00) to the one thousand beers, food and special tasting sessions. And if you get sick of beer at any point, there’s a Wine Escape with the purchase of tickets to The Great match, Texas Brewed or The Grand Tasting Session. These guys have thought of everything!
Sunday, appropriately, there’s a Brunch sponsored by 8th Wonder called the Brewston Brunch at Shula’s Hyatt Regency Downtown. Brunch begins at 11 am and goes until 1 pm, is $50 plus gratuity & tax, and claims an expert 3-course menu by the Shula’s executive chef.
So come out and enjoy more than 1,000 premium craft beer selections featuring more than 40 Texas Breweries with people who love it!
