Fun in the Center of Downtown at Discovery Green!

The hustle and bustle of downtown Houston can be a little overwhelming if you don’t have a go-to place to gather your thoughts. If you are looking for a break from the office or just want to take the kids to the park, head down to Discovery Green for a nice, relaxing time!

Discovery Green is a pleasant park space of rolling hills surrounded by the skyscrapers of downtown Houston, providing a fantastic view for its visitors. The park is very well landscaped with many gardens, a pond, and the most popular feature, the Gateway fountain. The Grove restaurant is in the park as well, and provides a great place to sit down and enjoy a meal. Or, try the Lakehouse Café, which is a small sandwich shop open for lunch.

There are many events throughout the year held at Discovery Green, such daily yoga classes, recycling events, and “Friday Night Flicks.” During the winter months, from November through February, Discovery Green has an ice rink for people of all ages. Upcoming events include the FUNomenal Family Festival and the Architects of Air.

So whether you’re looking to take nice walk through the park or go ice skating with the family, pay a visit to Discovery Green in downtown Houston.

I love this park, it reminds me so much of London, England where I grew-up. Just having a place to go where you see kids having fun being kids, parents chit-chatting with others. A yoga class going on with skyscrapers as a backdrop. What a beautiful place just to sit back and ponder the amazing city that Houston really is. We also really enjoyed the ice skating rink in the winter months…Thank you Discovery Green for all you give to make our hectic lives in H-Town a little more tolerable!

I couldn’t agree more Teresa, having a natural setting to enjoy the beauty of our city with future generations solidifies a more unified downtown environment for the future. Thanks for sharing with us!
