Houston is constantly putting on great cutting-edge events, and the Free Press Summer Festival is no different! This amazing annual festival combines the love of music and art, and is definitely going to be one of the highlights of the summer.
In 2009, Free Press Houston, an independent local newspaper, partnered with another local company, Pegstar.net to organize the first annual Free Press Summer Festival, a 2-day long music festival along with Houston artist’s interactive installations to add a creative, cultural environment. The festival continues to bring in a huge crowd and this year it’ll be taking place May 31- June 1, 2014 at Eleanor Tinsley Park from 11am-10pm.
You expect to see more than 75 astounding artists hitting the stage over the course of the 2 days, such as Lauryn Hill, Jack White, the Wu-Tang Clan, The Kills, DMX, Vampire Weekend and the Deftones confirmed on the schedule. One of the biggest happenings that Houstonians are looking forward to is the all-star cast of the greatest rappers in Houston performing together, including Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Z-Ro, Bun B and many more!
Tickets are being sold as 2-day passes only, with different passes allowing access to unique features such as private bars and air conditioned dining. Please be sure to check what’s allowed to be brought in to the fest, there will be plenty of food/drink vendors on site to make sure that your needs will be met. With Houston’s infamous summer heat and an expected crowd of around 150,000 attendees, paint slides and water walls will also be set up to keep patrons cool.
