Ruggles Green distances itself from the primary, by not being blue, yellow or red, but by committing to a healthy, delicious eating experience. With four locations all over the city, Houston’s broad spectrum of neighborhoods can all see why.
The dining experience itself resembles a certain express café, though the food comes to you after you order from the counter. However, the menu in no way resembles other “fast, casual” dining experiences. It features original dishes like the 98% Lean Buffalo Burger, Wood-fired Quinoa Mac & Cheese or the Veggie-Nut Hemp Burger: eating here is definitely eclectic and totally mouth-watering. They also have the most extensive gluten-free menu in Houston.
I love the Honey-Crusted Goat Cheese Salad because… phwoar. First of all, you can count on the fact that the goat cheese is fresh, organic and additive-free, the honey crusty stuff makes it taste like an explosive miracle (maybe this is an exaggeration, but where would civilization be without cheese?). I could eat that goat cheese medallion by itself (I swear I’ve never done this…), the mango ranch dressing is just the right combination of savory and sweet and the salads are HUGE. They are get-another-plate-for-my-plate huge.
Speaking of the fresh, organic and additive-free guarantee, Ruggles Green is a fully saturated Green restaurant that uses only local and organic produce and ingredients, all-natural meat products with no hormones, antibiotics or steroids, and a certification that really breaks the mold for Texas restaurant-ing.
Ruggles Greens’ restaurants are all at least 3-star Certified Green Restaurants, and were the first Certfied Green restaurants in Houston. CITYCENTRE’s Ruggles Green is a 4-star Certified Green Restaurant—the only one in Texas. While these accolades sound quite fancy and obtuse, Ruggles’ commitment to sustainability is serious and they fulfill this dedication though collaborative composting, large-scale recycling efforts of plastic, cardboard, glass, paper, and metal, water saving devices like automatic low-flow, 100% wind-powered electricity, solar module supplements, and Organic and Biodynamic farming.
In all, Ruggles Green is a great, fast place to eat with food that is delicious and adventurous!
