Frank’s Grill is the epitome of everything delicious about a real down home breakfast and lunch. Even without a website, it’s Yelp reviews let everyone know that it’s one of the best. With multiple locations throughout the Houston area to choose from, I had recently had an opportunity to visit the Westchase location for breakfast with a friend.
The restaurant is full natural light and the décor could use an update, but I was prepared for Frank’s Grill to meet the great reputation that most typical hole-the-walls have. The setting was family friendly and we were given the option to seat whenever we wanted with the choice being a table, a booth or right at the bar counter to watch the chefs go to work. After sitting in a booth, our waiter came over and was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. You could really tell that he was a people person as we took our orders and made awesome suggestions.
While I warned of the big portions, I was still happily surprised that food was overflowing the plate for such an affordable price. Any place that can perfectly execute Chicken Fried Chicken and gravy is after my own heart. I was also a huge fan of their hash browns, waffles, and insanely tasty cappuccino topped with whipped cream. Thanks to my friend, I also sampled their shrimp and grits, with both also being a great reason to dine at Frank’s Grill.
The fast, friendly service and the fact the bill between me and my lunch mate was only about $23 for a fantastic breakfast with leftovers, won us over completely. If you are looking to beat the crowd at other locations, the hidden gem in Southwest Houston is deserving of a try. I assure you, I will be returning as soon as possible!
