There are few who taste a Goode Company dish and wonder why these careful crafters have been in business for the better part of half a century. Founder Jim Goode and his uncle Joe Dixie were so devoted to quality barbecue that they would sleep at the restaurant to check the brisket every hour. According to their website, “one slept inside, one outside, and they kept a shotgun nearby to protect the meat, the equipment, and themselves (in that order).”
From that first location, the family business has expanded to 7 locations throughout the Greater Houston Area. Their credo—fresh food at an honest price that’s made to order—spans their mini-empire that includes some of the best Gulf seafood you’ll ever try, a taqueria with an authentic Tex-Mex flair and even a live music palace.
All their meats are smoked—not grilled—using mesquite wood, giving it that original Goode Company taste, from their seafood to their fajitas to their burgers and brisket. At Goode Company, “barbecue’s only the tip of the tongs when it comes to Goode grub.”
In fact, Goode Company is so committed to crafting their signature flavors, that they’re usually “up before the rooster crows” making their trademark Jalapeño cheese bread, four types of sausage, blending their barbecue rubs and seasonings—all in-house to ensure the consistency and quality of “slow-smoked, scratch-made and hand-crafted” food their patrons have come to expect.
