A makeover in Midtown Houston has gained the attention of restaurant-goers all across the city. Famous designer and developer, Ian Rosenberg, foresees the potential in the rapidly growing neighborhood and wants to contribute his ideas. Houston CultureMap received some great details on what we all can look forward to.
Rosenberg has big plans to turn an old 32,000 square foot garage into a combined restaurant, bar, and bakery eatery. He began working with chocolatier Richard Kaplan, wine expert Mike Sammons, and Slow Dough Bread Co. president Heath Wendell to finalize the new space on Caroline Avenue.
Midtown’s newest addition is called Weights + Measures, and will feature a vast menu with everything from coffee and pastries in the morning to wine and pasta dishes in the evening. We can certainly expect fresh, flavorful menu items that will be executed to perfection. The chefs are so excited about choosing the menu options that they made a trip to Italy to learn how to perfect some of the dishes they plan on serving as well as spend some time building their relationships among themselves. The students and parents of The Metropolitan Dance Company, which occupies the back of the corner of the space should keep the daytime traffic constant at the cafe as well as visitors from upstairs businesses.
We are excited to see what the team work of these 4 gentlemen bring one of Houston’s most popular neighborhoods. Thanks to the months of preparation and hard work from numerous people, Weights + Measures is starting to come to life and is set to open in September. How do you feel about the makeover happening in Midtown?
