Houston is known for its wide variety of cuisines, and it seems that Midtown is seeing many great Japanese restaurants come into the mix. Recently, Japanese restaurant owners of The Azuma Group announced they will be opening an izakaya in Midtown.
An izakaya is not your traditional Japanese restaurant, here the drinks are the served first. In addition to the beverages, they offer small plates that complement the sake or other drink the customer is enjoying. The new restaurant is going to have an extensive variety of traditional Japanese drinks with many modern variations.
Houston Culture Map found out from the owner of the new Japanese restaurant, Yun Cheng, that a name has not yet been decided for his new location. He is proud to announce this will be his first izakaya restaurant and he is very excited to see how it will perform in the midst of Houston’s great food reputation. He knows Midtown is a hot spot for Japanese restaurants and he is confident his restaurant will stand out versus the competition.
Despite the number of Japanese restaurants in the Houston area, Yun Cheng and the rest of the Azuma Group are thrilled to announce the opening of their newest location. They are positive their chefs have many great things to offer Houstonians who love authentic Japanese cuisine!
